Professor Eric Appau Asante, Coordinator of Artificial Intelligence courses at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been appointed an Ambassador of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) for the Africa Region.
The appointment, communicated by the ACU through a renewed digital credential, designates Prof. Asante as an official liaison between KNUST and the Commonwealth higher education body, strengthening the University’s engagement within the ACU network.
The ACU is a global consortium of more than 400 member institutions, with over 100 universities across Africa, and promotes collaboration, knowledge exchange and shared opportunities across the Commonwealth.
ACU Ambassadors play a strategic role in facilitating two-way communication between the Association and member universities.
Their responsibilities include identifying institutional contact points, amplifying member priorities and supporting access to opportunities such as partnerships, research funding, mobility schemes and professional development programmes.
Prof. Asante’s appointment follows sustained contributions to digital education, international collaboration and institutional capacity building.
In 2023, he received the ACU Global Star Ambassador Award in recognition of his impact and commitment within the Association’s global network.
The new mandate positions him to work with other ACU Ambassadors across Africa to promote regional collaboration, shared learning and higher education priorities aligned with Commonwealth values.
The ACU-issued digital credential, which is colour-coded for regional identification, also enables professional networking among Ambassadors across the Commonwealth.
